Teaching Philosophy
I am honored to Direct and Lead the teaching at Milan Children’s Preschool, a cooperative and parent-run school that values the importance of parents’ involvement in their child’s education. I believe that these are the two most important years in your child’s educational development and it is my pursuit to make these years of play-based learning memorable and magical. I strongly feel my students need to know I care for them as individuals and with this in mind I strive to build a good relationship with each child in my class. My hope is that each child will know I recognize their strengths and believe in them, this way they can recognize their own strengths, believe in themselves, and overcome their weaknesses.
During class time we will practice and master a wide variety of social skills, listening skills, classroom etiquette, fine and gross motor skills, alphabet and number recognition and beginning formation, as well as other early math, reading, art, science, and writing skills. During our time together we will celebrate the accomplishments of our friends, encourage ourselves and our peers to achieve new heights, and reinforce cooperation through our differences.
As a class, our goal for the Kindergarten Readiness program is to prepare your child for entry into kindergarten. Through additional time and activities focused on following directions, large group sharing, cooperative group games, letters, numbers, and words of the week creatively covered in fun units; we further develop the learning we began in the previous years and excitedly send students on to the next step in their educational journey.
