Miss Sarah

Picture
Sarah Chinavare began her college education at Eastern Michigan University as a Communication Major. While there, she worked at a latch key program with preschool age children. This is where she found her calling. Sarah has been working to make a difference in the life of children ever since.

She received a degree in Early Childhood Development at Monroe County Community College in 2000. She has continued her education by attending classes and workshops every year.  She taught at the KC Childcare Center and Preschool in Ypsilanti for ten years. Prior to that position, she cared for infant/toddlers ages 6 weeks to 2-1/2 years at Stony Creek Preschool in Ann Arbor. She now holds the teaching position at Milan Childrens' Preschool.

Teaching Philosophy

It is crucial to recognize every child's unique learning style, so that I can best instruct to that child's abilities. It is my pursuit to find your child's strengths and use them to build their confidence; and thereby giving them a tool to overcome their weaknesses. I believe it is important to build a good relationship with each child in my class. For if a child doesn't believe I care about them, they will not learn for me. Most importantly, I believe that these are two of the most important years in a child's educational development. During this time, we can still incorporate play while learning. I have the opportunity to make these years fun and let them enjoy being a child while they prepare for the next step in their education.

As a class, our goal is to prepare for Kindergarten. The children will reach these goals with daily activities such as Circle Time to encourage listening skills, Center Time to encourage sharing and following directions, recess and group games to encourage gross motor skills. Combining these daily goals with monthly goals such a letters, numbers and words of the week into fun units will surely have your child ready for kindergarten.

I strive to have an open relationship with all of my parents. Please feel free to come to me with ANY concerns or questions you may ever have. I am here for you as well as your child.
